Color management, or a color workflow, is the process where each step an image takes, from input to output, is controlled relative to color accuracy. This process also includes the accuracy of the monitor as well as the scanner and color printer. Even some graphics programs get involved.
The idea is simple: the scan should match the monitor which should match the print. Simple it's not. Every device involved in the color workflow chain, from capture, to display to output, is capable of representing only a portion of the entire range of chromatic (color) values. The scanner uses a CCD for capture, a CRT uses phosphors and an inkjet printer uses, well, ink.
The goal of a color workflow is to find common ground amongst all these devices. To create a color workflow requires a combination of highly technical equipment and the knowledge of how to use your present computer system. Right now there is a right way and a wrong way to scan and print. If you are not getting the results you want, there is a good chance that all you need is a little training.
For a more serious and accurate result, call me and I will come to you and bring with me the equipment needed to create a workflow that will get you the results you desire. I will teach you how to use your equipment and even leave written instructions. Just know that perfection is not something easily attained, or even possible. But I can get you the best results possible.
